Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)

Deep Brain Reorienting is a gentle, neuroscience - based approach that works with the brainstem to help your nervous system release deep-seated shock and instinctual responses at a cellular level. It targets the very beginning of a trauma response, helping to unburden your body from long-held tension without needing to re-live the details of the event.

This modality may help quiet the feelings of overwhelm, hypervigilance, and emotional pain that often feel stuck in the body. By gently reorienting the nervous system, clients frequently experience a profound sense of inner stillness, clarity, and safety that persists long after our sessions end.

In our collaborative space, sessions feel quiet and focused. We move at a pace that feels secure for you, focusing on gentle physical sensations to help your brainstem process and release physiological shock safely and effectively.

When Could DBR be Helpful?

DBR may be a good fit if you’re living with the lingering effects of painful or overwhelming experiences that feel hard to put into words. It can be especially supportive when you notice sudden waves of panic, anxiety, shock, tension, or shutdown in your body, even if you’re not sure why.

Experiences of shock, overwhelm, or sudden threat

Traumatic experiences that still feel “stuck” in the body

Relational and attachment-based trauma

Childhood experiences that continue to affect you in adulthood

Persistent feelings of fear, shame, anger, or helplessness connected to past experiences

Repetitive emotional or relational patterns that are difficult to change

Sometimes you can understand what happened intellectually, yet your body still reacts as though it is happening now. Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) offers a gentle, body-based approach to exploring experiences that may remain unresolved beneath conscious awareness, helping you process what has been held in the nervous system and move toward a greater sense of safety and integration.
